CSGO workshop help

Post by J-English »

want to try out workshop for CSGO.

what do i exactly need to do?

so far i have added the API key, collection and starting map ID .

Do i need to download those maps myself?
Do i have to still configure the gamemodes txt using steam workshop?

Thanks

If you've added those items through the "Easy setup" page, you only need to restart the server for the changes to take effect. The server will download the maps for you. Custom map cycles will be ignored in favor of the Collection properties, but you can still use the configuration files to make other, optional, adjustments if you wish.

Are you certain that the codes are right? Are you seeing anything unusual in the server log?

To troubleshoot further, you could have us add "-condebug" to the command line.

I did a server wipe, added the workshop codes.
Then installing sourcemod and metamod source from the autoinstallers...server refuses to start.

server control tab says its up
Status tab shows is offline.

This is happening after installing meta and sourcemod

I have not heard of issues with Sourcemod recently.

I do still recommend reading the logs, and having us potentially turn on -condebug for you. That is the most thorough way of troubleshooting Workshop problems.

If you could open a support request from the server you want this enabled for, we will be able to help you out.

My experience with this is similar. Except it's not an issue with the server not starting. It's starting, but depending on the size of the collections you are running, it will take time for the server to download the required maps. CS:GO workshop maps (and other custom) are relatively large, and the server needs time to process all of the bytes necessary to acquire all of the maps. If you still don't believe the server is doing anything, try executing "_restart" in the 'show console tool' on your 'server control' tab. After you've restarted it with the console tool, you can see what it's doing even though it's showing 'offline.' Once the downloads have completed, it will come up. It's just not instant, since the large map files have to be downloaded first.

Good luck!

I mentioned somewhat same issue with TF2 where it appears up, but it wasn't starting correctly.

Our issue seemed to be our control panel. If I run the server using a .bat file with the exact same parameters, it starts fine.

Watching our logs, starting with the control panel crashed at the point of where the plugins would begin to load.

Try installing it with default files and test it.
Add workshop stuff and test it.
Then add sourcemod/metamod and test it.

I think it's probably at the third test where it fails.

I am going to setup another TF2 server without sm/mm and see if I get different results and I'll let you know.

When i look at my csgo server list in steam and my status in control panel..map shows as example "123543/Map " something like that.

But ingame it runs the default maps like dust etc.
Think i might go back to the standard way of implementing map rotation thru the gamemodes txt and mapcycle txt etc.

I just find workshop doesnt work as its suppose to.

Funny thing was, after installing sm mm,server stayed offline for a.couple of days or so,and then went online by itself with workshop maps.changing the workshop maps made the server go offline.

I was getting help from the developer of our control panel, and are testing, he found that removing the ip and port from the command line allowed the server to start up fine 100% of the time.

Great if you only have the one server. We have 3, all with different ips.
