Re: About the new CPU vulnerabilities

So I have a question. If I understand the bugs correctly, these are hardware bugs that are being fixed through software. In the case of anything you guys control (i.e, managed system) then there's no issues on our end - I assume you'll do the OS update & reboot and that'll be the end of it. But ...

Re: Summer discounts and news

Can you provide a side by side comparison of the price drops? I haven't really checked the prices in a long while, and just want to see if an upgrade is worth it. Here's what I see: 2 Core Windows server - price decrease by $9/month. 4 Core Windows server (+2gb ram/month) - price decrease by $5/mon...

I'm taking a wild guess here and thinking you probably didn't change the port?

Re: The Stomping Land

While I like the game (and setup a server on my VPS as well), there's really nothing to do in the game. Me and a bunch of friends all played it for 2 days, and there's really nothing left to do. (To be fair it only takes only an hour or two to do absolutely everything). Just need to sit around and w...

Re: Setting up Minecraft

I don't think you'd need to touch the firewall - I never did when I setup a vanilla minecraft server, or any other server for that matter.

Re: 2014 Spring sale

How long is the sale going to be on for? I know someone that literally just started renting a vps either yesterday or the day before, and I can see him upgrading, but he's on vacation for a week.

Re: Creating an email server

I set mine up using this tutorial quite some time back (at least I'm fairly confident...) - http://unlockforus.com/roundcube-webmail-imap-client-and-hmailserver/. Seemed to work fine on Windows 2008. If you check around on the same website, it'll also have a section for hardening it (ie make email/...

Could be it - I don't restart it often.

Re: Starbound support

I've had some bad luck with it in a private (passworded) server I set up for a few friends (max 4~ people). Seems it has a memory leak still, maxing out my dedi's ram (3gb) is not good, especially as it seemed to have happened when there wasn't even anyone on the server (sigh).

Sorry for the double post - either I'm blind or there's no edit button :D.

It seems reducing visibility to 8 (default 10) seemed to work wonders. No lag anymore.

Re: Laggy Minecraft Server

I read recently that view distances can have a very large effect on server performance. I am not familiar with minecraft, but if view distances can be set or limited try that. You could also try googling for a good setting. I'll give it a shot when I get home, thanks. It's very likely what you're s...

Re: Laggy Minecraft Server

When running the Minecraft server, I generally only have one other server running, which is a Primal Carnage server. It generally has 10-20 people in it at any given time - when full, CPU usage is usually around 25%, and uses about 450MB of RAM. (When not running the Minecraft server, I have 2 other...
