Re: NFO midsummer sale!

Also, can the discount coupon be used more than once during the sale period, in case we decide to change a package again?

Re: NFO midsummer sale!

Can you give us an idea of how long this sale is gonna last (like until the end of the month)?

Re: Labor day sale!

I find NFO's prices fine for the great service they provide. What kills us is the Windows Server license cost (not blaming NFO here). My 6-core VDS base package (not including the extra 2GB RAM plus webhosting) costs US$ 32.99/mo. The Windows Server license costs a whole US$ 19.50/mo, more than half...

Re: Multiple HLDS running on VDS receiving random time outs

Unfortunately, the mass timeouts continue. Like I did before when I had this issue in February, right after my previous post I increased the number of "hyperthreaded cores", going from 4 to 6 this time. That stopped the timeouts for some time, but we just had one with less than 10 players on the ser...

Re: Multiple HLDS running on VDS receiving random time outs

John, could you please check if anything was changed on the machine hosting the VDS (pid #110852), like new VDSs having been added or something like that? The server is just starting to reach a good player base and we simply can't start having this kind of problem again now. For something like this...

Re: Multiple HLDS running on VDS receiving random time outs

After not having experienced a single mass kick for timeout on my Rust server since I upgraded the VDS to 4 cores in February, we just had two mass kicks for timeout this morning - the first one around 8:21 am EST (with less than 10 players online), and the second one around 10:05 am EST. Like befor...

Re: Multiple HLDS running on VDS receiving random time outs

My take on this issue is that, with an odd number of VDS cores, at least one of them will always be running on a hyperthread "belonging" to a physical core running on another VDS. Whenever that "foreign" core needs more resources, it has priority over its corresponding hyperthread and processes runn...

Re: Multiple HLDS running on VDS receiving random time outs

it's certainly possible that Rust would use the capacity of three threads occasionally, causing problems for other services. No, it wasn't. Another thing to note is that HLSM eventually ends up having two processes running after a hard restart and the one that's visible on remote login can no longe...

Re: Multiple HLDS running on VDS receiving random time outs

I was having the exact same problem with a Rust server I added to my 3-core VDS in January, which until then only ran a (mostly empty) Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory server that has an extremely low resource usage. Players would be disconnected in groups (usually all players on the server), at seeming...

Exactly! That's why I recommend keeping the login screen.
Duly noted, but is there a way access the current logged in session via VNC bypassing the login screen?

Re: Access to my VDS via VNC asking for logged on Administrator password

If someone were to somehow obtain the VNC password, having a logged-in console would allow them to do nefarious things; otherwise, there's not much they can do. Via VNC, they would be stuck on the login screen like it's happening to me and would need to find out my much more complex Admininstrator ...

Re: Access to my VDS via VNC asking for logged on Administrator password

That's the thing, I wasn't using RDP when I tried to connect via VNC. I stuck with Win XP x64 and Server 2003 R2 for as long as I could and only switched to (the inferior) 7/S2K8 R2 a few months ago, so maybe this is something new to 7/S2K8 that I never noticed before, because I could always VNC int...

Access to my VDS via VNC asking for logged on Administrator password

I noticed today that, when trying to access my VDS via the control panel's VNC console or via the TightVNC viewer, instead of the currently open session I'm being taken to the login/welcome screen asking for a password, even though the Administrator user is already logged on (as shown on that screen...

Re: Summer discounts and news

By the way, last year I finally decided to move all my web hosting to NFO too and service quality has been equally great. If anyone reading this is considering getting a VDS or is looking for a web host, seriously, just sign up with NFO - I guarantee you won't regret it.

Re: Summer discounts and news

Virtual servers : VDSes already offered an outstanding value, but as with dedicated servers, we have dropped prices for most plans even further. We have adjusted our Windows fee to better match how we are charged by Microsoft. The fee is now calculated based on the number of ordered cores, instead ...
