Re: Backup script stopped being able to write to my VDS

Are you seeing any relevant messages in the FTP log or system log? The FTP log may show a more specific error, and the system log could show something being blocked.

Re: Backup script stopped being able to write to my VDS

It is likely that performing the update of your system changed a setting for you in the FTP daemon, such as by disabling passive mode support. I would recommend taking a look at the change notes and also checking the configuration. Also worth making sure that AppArmor and similar mechanisms are not ...

Re: Heavy disk access / heavy I/O

The system process follows through on disk writes that are generally triggered by other processes. Do you see another process there? If it is truly the system itself doing it on its own, then you'd want to look in the system log to see if Windows is kicking out warnings, and you'd want to make sure ...

Re: Heavy disk access / heavy I/O

At the top of that tab, you'll see a list of files that are being read/written to. The biggest number will probably be the one that you need to address.

Re: Heavy disk access / heavy I/O

Usually this happens when a customer is running out of memory or software is misconfigured (such as if it is crashing and endlessly restarting). It should be relatively easy to find what is causing it, in any case. What OS are you running? If this is Windows, you can use the Disk page of the Resourc...

Re: Fivem Hitch

I'm not familiar with Fivem to any significant degree, but I know that with Quake3-based games, using the console on the server will cause hitching, as can using Remote Desktop, as can high CPU usage. Are you seeing high CPU usage for any of the cores of your VDS?

Re: PHP FTP access on Managed VDS

Have you tried disabling or enabling passive mode?

Where are you running the PHP FTP commands from?

Re: Another cheater name and wonID, name

Valve hasn't used WonIDs for a long time. If you are running a nonsteam server, you will see face WonIDs in the server console and logs. You will also see many cheaters, who you can try to ban by IP address (but will have limited success in banning because they can change IP addresses easily). We ca...

Re: Script to see Concurrent Users

If you are interested in knowing how close you are to the limit that we have for our webhosting plans, this command will give you the number of running Apache processes for your user, which should be close to what Apache considers concurrent sessions: ps -u yourusername | grep apache2 | wc -l If you...

You might consider setting up a lightweight webserver, then, if it's just a simple file that needs to be grabbed.

Re: NFO Blocking Bypasses?

"botnet bypass hits" is not a meaningful term. Can you clarify what type of traffic you are seeing? If you are referring to what some script kiddies market as "bypass attacks" on their "booter" or "stresser" websites, they generally just use that to mean a type of spoofed attack that they think is m...

Re: VDS Name Servers

If you have the website configured already on your machine/VDS (with content, vhost information, SSL certificate, etc), you should just need to create "A" records for the @ and www subdomains to point to the IP address of your VDS. I would recommend using Google's name servers instead of running you...

Re: Wordpress MultiSite feature help

If this is in our regular webhosting system, we don't support catch-all/wildcard subdomains through our control panel. To use a wildcard subdomain, you'd need to switch to an unmanaged VDS.
