Re: FPS Dips

It's most likely the CPU then. Hopefully the problem is gone away though. Just wondering how many servers your running, what type, how many slots, etc. I'm running 2 - 20 slot CS servers, both at 1000 fps and they run fine on the single core. Haven't had both of them full yet, but with 10 in each I'...

Re: Virtual server questions

I have never rented a dedicated server or a virtual one. I am very interested in renting one but I do have a few questions before I invest a lot of time and money. Virtual server questions: - What is your recommended method for remotely connecting to a Window 2003 server, Remote Desktop or some oth...

Re: How to find Linux CPU usage?

I completely understand, but I have a full backup of my CS 1.6 servers on my server at my house, plus I've never had a problem before. I'm old fashioned and go by the saying 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'

Not always the smartest, but it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks.

Re: How to find Linux CPU usage?

I could create a new user, but root already has a very well encryped password, so I figured why not. I've always used root, and never had a problem. It's all about the password, and sometimes even the port. I usually change my SSH port to something not familiar on port scanners.

Re: Looks like farewell...

You'd be surprised how many regulars would stay. Obviously some with leave, but some will stay, just for the fact that the server itself out performes most servers. I know I would, if I found a server that gives good ping to everyone, and registry is good.

Re: FPS Dips

I'd definently try changing the settings first, then give windows a shot. I don't have any problems and I'm only on a single core as well, so I'm thinking the culprit is too high of a ticrate. Post back and let us know though.

Re: FPS Dips

Unfortunately it doesn't apply to VPS's. As far as the FPS drops, maybe it's your settings. Try -pingboost 2 for your servers, and put +sys_ticrate 1500 in your server.cfg You will not get a higher FPS than 1000 on any VPS. 1000 FPS seems to work good on all of my servers though, so give it a try an...

Re: teamspeak 3

I've always prefered TS, mostly cause I've always ran my own servers and Ventrilo's 8 slot limit is a real kick in the pants. TeamSpeak, can run up to 1000 slots on the free one, I believe. We'll have to wait and see what the new TeamSpeak is like though. 8)

Re: teamspeak 3

Hmm, interesting. I don't pay much attention to TeamSpeak anymore, but I've always wondered if people use TeamSpeak as much as Ventrilo. Personally, I use Ventrilo, but to each their own.

No problem at all. I'm now a disabled person, so I have nothing but time to kill. Figured I was as well lend a helping hand wherever needed.

Re: problems setting up ftp on windows 2008.

My guess would be a firewall issue. Do you have a firewall? If so, make sure the ports are open. I'm sure John will chime in soon and help you further.

Sucks to see you go, but I'll try and take your place as the longest customer. You'll be back though. I've tried not running a server for a while, but somehow I got back into it.
