Couldn't you remove old kernels from the boot partition to free up space? At least that's what I do when I run into this issue.

Not really. It crashed at 4am EST when activity was extremely limited. I also have a 1GB swap on the VPS so it's extremely hard to believe that a OOM situation was the cause.

Unless there is some extreme memory leak, I'm really not sure.

Also the VPS really only runs a TS3 server and MariaDB. I'm suspecting it's something to do with MariaDB and am upgrading to the latest version now, maybe they fixed a bug that I was being affected by.
