Re: Front Page Thoughts
Gotta go full material and drop the gradients! But it's great seeing it updated and I hope to see more VPS and Dedi configuration offerings!

Re: Kernel 4.14 works on one VPS but not the other
It's worth looking at the things I mentioned, and others. Do they all have the exact same old kernel and old kernel boot line? Gentoo is a good distribution but it requires much more expertise, and work, to install and maintain than Ubuntu, Debian, or CentOS. Troubleshooting strange problems associ...

Re: Kernel 4.14 works on one VPS but not the other
Without the error, it will be hard to troubleshoot this remotely. You might see if there's an experimental kernel available for your OS and test that, or try updating the OS in other ways. You could check /var/log/messages (or wherever your distribution stores logs). You could check the kernel comm...

Re: Kernel 4.14 works on one VPS but not the other
That output doesn't show a crash or other problem -- it has kernel output that we'd expect on a working system. Some OS versions show kernel output when the system is taking a long time to boot or there are other messages that show warnings (and not otherwise). Sometimes such output is overlaid on ...

Kernel 4.14 works on one VPS but not the other
So the VPS is running on kernel 4.12, and doing an upgrade of that config to 4.14, the VPS won't boot and shows this: https://i.gyazo.com/f806f1031f02aa77ec2dd7ec78c51970.png However, with that same config, it boots just fine on another VPS with the same hypervisor type. I'm not sure how to debug, a...

Re: Allocating More Space to /boot
Couldn't you remove old kernels from the boot partition to free up space? At least that's what I do when I run into this issue.

Private/Floating IPs
I've been setting up a WAN cluster and I want more redundancy in the same datacenters, so I'm wondering if we could get private/floating IPs between VPSes to make this possible and limit bandwidth. This would also really help my game servers that are hosted in the same datacenter to reduce bandwidth...

Emerge Issue with Gentoo

Re: Slow Solid State Drive
It's not a concern if the server takes five seconds to change level. I'd rather see if there's an easier way out honestly. Everything will be using pcie ssds in the future instead of the slower sata interface  , i'm just a little bit ahead of the game with scripts. Better hardware shoul...

Re: Gentoo VPS Crashing
Not really. It crashed at 4am EST when activity was extremely limited. I also have a 1GB swap on the VPS so it's extremely hard to believe that a OOM situation was the cause.
Unless there is some extreme memory leak, I'm really not sure.

Re: Gentoo VPS Crashing
Also the VPS really only runs a TS3 server and MariaDB. I'm suspecting it's something to do with MariaDB and am upgrading to the latest version now, maybe they fixed a bug that I was being affected by.

Gentoo VPS Crashing
One of my Gentoo VPSes is crashing lately, and I was wondering what steps I can take to debug and solve this issue, as NFO runs their managed Linux setups on Gentoo.
Thanks!

Gentoo Kernel Auto Updater
Since I always wanted to be on the latest version of the available Gentoo kernel, but I wasn't making changes to the config, I wrote this. It automatically finds the newest version available in your src directory and updates to that. Might cause issues but since I don't touch the folder it works jus...
