Re: Curious Question About Lag
I do not know this to be factual, but I imagine that crawlers only look on port 80, so if it's not open, they skip it.

Also, because saves are on a separate thread now (Read: no save lag), you can save more frequently. Instead of these 15-30 minute saves from before, you can get away with every 5 minutes.

Re: Installing Votifier
If this plugin is opening a port to listen, you should make sure that you have your IP address in the configuration file, because if you don't specify an IP address, it will try to bind to all, which won't work if another customer is running this plugin. Also, if you are able to make a connection, y...

Most plugins should create tables automatically, you can usually get a .sql file from the developer to import to your database.

Re: Wanting to rent
This means that your price will never go up, no matter how much prices ever go up. Prices don't usually go up, though, they usually go down and if they do go down, you'll always be able to take advantage of the price discount.

Re: Crashes/Restarts make people lose data
Minecraft does not constantly save chunk data. This is just how the game is made. We talk more about it here: http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewto ... =69&t=6598

Why did my server roll back?
Due to the way Minecraft is coded, saving of the world and player files is periodic (occurring every 10 minutes or so). When your server crashes or freezes and the server starts back up, it must reload from the last save, so the world may be rolled back as much as 10 minutes. If you see a rollback, ...

The only way to do this is to change out your minecraft bins each time you start Minecraft.

Just as a quick update. John has added the 3 new server.properties settings to the Easy Setup tab, so this is no longer an issue.

Re: Dynmap web config
Also, just to get it out there, you wouldn't be able to run dynmap from a remote webserver until you had a contab that synced the webdata from your game server to the remote webserver, so the files would actually be on the webspace. It wouldn't be able to read it from game server and this method isn...

Re: Easy setup does not include everything.Beware(new users)
Yes, you are able to update things directly via FTP, but you must be very careful to make sure that you don't remove the server-ip line in server.properties or your server will not start.

Re: BC2 admin daemon feedback
It sounds like you want to run each message once an hour (For instance) with an offset in 5 minute increments.
Example:
Message 1, once an hour +0.
Message 2, once an hour +5
Message 3, once an hour +10
Is this what you mean?

Message 1, once an hour +0.

Re: Dedi/VPS Managed Web Hosting
This has been discussed in a similar thread fairly recently. It doesn't make sense to use cPanel/WHM for us when we have a perfectly capable in-house control panel for webhosting. Even if we were to use it, it would be in the same time frame for setup as using our own, because John has lots of stuff...

Re: New Customer Question
A lot of our servers become populated a lot of times because servers place "NFo" or similar in their server name. People recognize that, based on our reputation and choose to play on servers that we host.
