VDS: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, is it safe to upgrade?
Hi, I've got a VDS still running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and I've been scared to upgrade because the last time I upgraded to 12.04 LTS from the previous LTS (10.04 or something), the upgrade failed and I had to do a complete reinstall from scratch. Does anyone know if the upgrade path to the latest LTS is ...

Probably the best compliment I can give
I've been a customer for at least a couple of years now, probably more, and I think the best compliment that I can give is I never think about my VDS at all, because it just works.

Re: Networking on Ubuntu 12.04 not working after upgrade
Welp, I spent what felt like an hour comparing my local 12.04 VM with my NFO 12.04 VM and there were a few differences which may or may not matter. The 'dmesg' was somewhat different on each of them. Unfortunately, without network support on my local VM, I was not able to capture the dmesg output an...

Re: Networking on Ubuntu 12.04 not working after upgrade
Any chance you could setup a temporary fresh 12.04 install on your end that I could poke around with and compare, or would that be too much effort? Nevermind about this. I successfully got XenServer running inside VirtualBox using VirtualBox's "Host Only" networking mode and my ubuntu 12....

Re: Networking on Ubuntu 12.04 not working after upgrade
Yes, we have an installer for vanilla 12.04 and it should not have this problem. I could double-check the version of Xen on the machine you're on to make sure that you're at the latest, though, to be safe in eliminating the chance of an incompatibility. That would be nice. I am currently running th...

Upgraded ubuntu 10.04 to 12.04 and now networking doesn't wo
Hi all, I just took the plunge and did "do-release-upgrade" on my Ubuntu 10.04 LTS VDS, figuring that the upgrade should be stable enough by now to "just work". Upon rebooting, I could no longer SSH into the box but fortunately the VNC java thingy from the control panel worked so...

SSL times out then works after refresh
Hello, I've had a VDS for probably over a year now and really like it. The TF2 and L4D2 servers work great. I also run a web site with apache (the server is on ubuntu) and the HTTP works fine but the HTTPS is something I've always had problems with and have never really been able to figure out. Basi...

Re: Steam Content Server
I've given this a try. Is there any way we can verify that it is using our new preferred server? I tried "netstat -apn |grep steam" while steam is running but I have no idea where the IP address that steam is connecting to is located.

Re: Installing a VPN server
I use (and recommend) OpenVPN http://www.openvpn.net. You can configure it so that it becomes your primary gateway to the internet.
