New Dayz standalone

Hello, I hate to repeat something if it was already posted, but I did a search for 10 minutes and found only results for the old mod for Arma II. Is there any note of what the new Dayz standalone game will require as far as server specs?? I plan to reorder a VDS 3 core, and am kinda' wondering wheth...

Re: SRCDS hardening

The first thing you'll need to do is to create a new user for your server, then start running it under that user. After you do this, you can modify the permissions on various folders to remove its write privileges. You could put the rcon password on your command line with the "+rcon_password w...

SRCDS hardening

So, I've always wanted to do the first thing listed on this page: http://wiki.alliedmods.net/SRCDS_Hardening . I am referring to this: File Permissions If you are running your own server (not renting one from a GSP), there are some things you can do to prevent many of the more malicious exploits. Th...

Re: Drivers specific-to-Processor

Thanks for the response. I could only get it to work if I logged in to the machine and started up the servers first on the logmein remote connection. Then when I close that out, and I do a remote connection from within windows, it would connect to the same admin account. Otherwise, it creates a seco...

Re: Drivers specific-to-Processor

(didn't want to start a new thread) Okay new question for you guys - I'm trying to access the desktop remotely with a website called logmein. Basically a website-based RDC. I'm logging in using the same credentials as when I remote desktop in, so I can see the servers running. But when I do it thro...

Re: SSD mount gone after restart

I am curious about the SSD's you use. I have a 10GB partition on my VDS. Is that a slice of a larger drive like the HDD's? Is it an Intel? MLC or SLC? I'm also curious if these are running the Intel toolbox and what kind TRIM or garbage collection is going on for the drives to maintain read/write pe...

Re: FTP on your non managed VPS ??

I have been using Filezilla Server for the past 5 days and I recommend it, based purely on how easy the setup is, and it's not bloated. I have been a Filezilla client user for months and I love it.

Re: i'm trying to get scrds working

I couldn't get any batch file running today by the way :( I tried ANSI and UTF-8 encoding. I get the update working fine, and -verify_all works fine. But when it gets to the -game dod it says "cannot find -game" and the server won't start from the batch file. So I have it currently running...

Re: i'm trying to get scrds working

Is there an advantage to running a shortcut to srcds.exe on the desktop with lines appended versus running a batch file with the path to the srcds.exe? I guess the batch file will also let me include the crash protection on a windows OS, correct?

Re: Drivers specific-to-Processor

I guess I answered my own question, I ran the windows update and it said x64. I just wanted to make sure since I'm leery of windows updates anyways haha.

Drivers specific-to-Processor

So, I'm running a 3 core unmanaged VDS, and the processors appear as Xeon x5690's. I went to go download .NET framework 4.0 (I need to it to run Srcds admin program) and I don't know if I need the x64 version or the IA64. This is the link I'm talking about: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/detai...
