Re: What is going on with installing HLDS for 1.6!

If the server IP is not set, it will bind to whichever IP it finds first on the machine, so it is best to bind it to a specific IP if you have more than one on your machine.

Have you checked the server logs to see what errors are showing there?

Re: Scheduled Restarts on VDS

Generally people will run their server as a Windows service for that, so that the system will automatically restart it if it crashes, and will run it on system startup. We talk about that more here: https://forums.nfoservers.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=5355 I'm not sure how well those options would tie...

Re: AMXBans 6.14.4

That is a couple of years old. I wonder if it has trouble working with the newer MySQL version. Hopefully someone more familiar with Amxbans can chime in here. Have you tried contacting the admins of that community running it to see how they got it working?

Just to be sure, are you using the latest version of Amxbans? Which version of MySQL is it wanting?

Re: AMXBans 6.14.4

It may be that some of the configuration information you entered was incorrect. Do any errors show before that point, or is it not until you click to finish?

Re: What kind of server do I need for SantosRP

It looks like you asked us this in a help request as well, but for others wondering, either type of server should work. A game server could potentially give better performance without the virtualization overhead, while a VDS server, particularly an unmanaged VDS server, offers much more control and ...

Re: Were can I get more plugins

This is an old thread by now, but for those that may read this, Metamod:Source will not work on HL1/GoldSrc based games. Generally you would want to go to https://www.amxmodx.org/ for the largest selection of plugins for those games.

Re: brand new to dedicated hosting, requesting help on running multiple instances

Looking at it, you just have a single game server, which will only run one instance. You will either need more of those, or a VDS/machine to run multiple instances. If you plan on running your own SQL server, then an unmanaged VDS or unmanaged machine is what you will need.

Re: brand new to dedicated hosting, requesting help on running multiple instances

For running multiple instances, you will need a VDS or full machine. In your control panel, your server should be listed on the left under either "Games", "Virtuals", or "Machines" to let you know which type of service that you have. If it is a game server, then it is only the one instance, but the ...

Re: brand new to dedicated hosting, requesting help on running multiple instances

That sounds just like running more than one server. Is there a specific type of service you were considering? For standard server rentals, this just means ordering more than one server. If you are running the servers on a VDS or full machine instead, you could still run multiple servers, but they wo...

Re: Backup script stopped being able to write to my VDS

Was it after one of the system updates that it stopped working? Also, is it perhaps specific to that one backup file, or do other files also have the same problem?

Re: error CLOSED

Something to keep in mind with those port testing sites is that open and closed ports usually mean if a service is running or not running on the port, and does not mean if the port is blocked or unblocked.

Which type of service is this? Is it an unmanaged VDS, or web hosting?

Re: Vps domains HELP

Could you please provide an example of what you are wanting to do with domains? Do you already have a domain that you want to point at the VDS, or were you wanting to do something else?

What performance limitations are you running into exactly? Do you know if it is specifically RAM or CPU related?

Re: Hell Let Loose

Ah, I misunderstood what you meant by EA. I was thinking Electronic Arts, a game publisher, not Early Access, which seems to be what you meant. Electronic Arts has been known to restrict some things to a great extent, which was my reason for concern.

Re: Hell Let Loose

It is on our list of games to look at, though it may be a problem if EA is restricting access. We'll have to see how things go with it.
