Re: VDSes get more bandwidth at lower prices

By the way, why does Arma3 start at 64 slots? Perhaps a low slot count could be offered? This is due to the resource requirements of the game. Even small servers commonly use multiple CPU cores, and we have to factor that in. Is that really true? Everything I have seen about from Bohemia suggests t...

Re: VDSes get more bandwidth at lower prices

A dedicated server in itself or used to offer standalone servers is always going to be better than a VPS/VDS. For the best performance always get a dedicated server. Obviously but a $129 / month for a dedi box vs a $45 vds isnt going to ever be a reasonable option for 3 or 4 guys self funding a ser...

Re: VDSes get more bandwidth at lower prices

To clarify, shared (standalone) game server hosting here offers the highest performance. We carefully monitor it to make sure that it does. Except that your Shared / Standalone option for an Arma 3 server , 64 man on a 3 month payment is approx $52 a month where as a 4 core vds with Windows is stil...

Re: VDSes get more bandwidth at lower prices

Edge, I read through the story and several pages of the discussion before I posted. I simply stated that it did not work out for our benefit. I do understand why you had to do it. Extra monthly bandwidth is only a benefit if a server goes over the old levels otherwise its not really a cost saving to...

Re: VDSes get more bandwidth at lower prices

Re: VDSes get more bandwidth at lower prices In all honesty this should read more bandwidth and higher or lower prices...but I understand the spin to make it look like a positive headline. This didnt work out so well for us. (4 core windows vds on a 3 month payment cycle). We are now stuck (grandfat...

Migrating Arma MySQL Database to SSD - Help Needed

We are running a small 60 slot Arma Exile server and I'd like to move the MySQL database to a SSD for increased performance. I'm not sure how I'd migrate the database to that partition though to take advantage of the increased performance. Currently the database is on the standard partition of our V...

Importing large sql database

I am trying to import a rather large database (286 mb) via phpmyadmin and understand there is a limit to the import size. A while ago I used a tool to segment the database into a number of smaller files then import them in sequential order. I can't seem to find it online anywhere now. Does anyone kn...

Re: The competition...

My general comment about the quality of service and support is only partially based upon the bf4 / vds situation. Its a combination of things. Poor knowledge and understanding on the part of those who respond to tech support tickets, overall lag issues related to other games than BF4 on our VDS, DDo...

Re: What is with all the lag?

There is also this..which seems to be happening almost daily: We saw a couple more very large DDoS attacks in Chicago at a bit after 7pm CST today. We immediately dropped traffic to the destinations involved, but as usual, upstream transit does not respect these null-routes and packet loss continued...

Re: The competition...

After one day we saw much better performance. We ran large conquest all day and even with a full server we saw only minimal lag / rubberbanding. Its been much better than running it on our NFO VDS. Time will tell if this continues. naturally its more expensive than running on a VDS. I can also repor...

Re: What is with all the lag?

Our servers lag so horribly on Golmund, Paracel, and Lancang. I know we've submitted multiple tickets and were told they are caused by the maps but why does it seem only the NFO servers are seeing these issues? We have a VDS with NFO running 40-48 slots (lags / rubberbands horribly with 48) and we ...

Re: The competition...

I never stated it was an apples to apples comparison. Simply that we going to compare performance of our vds (which had issues / limits) to a standalone server and see if it performs better. In this case we opted to test with another company because of the 5 day trial period, the lower cost and we w...

Re: The competition...

I would invite you to share your new server ip with Fragnet so others here can see you made a mistake switching. Of course you will be setting up the same 70 slot 6 core VDS with them I am sure? I'll be happy to post either positive or negative results whichever way it goes as that is the point of ...

Re: The competition...

Were you not told that VDS are not really recommended for high BF3/bf4 slot counts? Nope and after several support tickets and posts in the forums the limit was brought to our attention Why did you not give NFO a shot with the pay per slot before going to the competitor? Combination of poor support...

The competition...

After some very frustrating times dealing with BF4 issues at its release and in the weeks that followed, paired with the post purchase revelation of the limitations of running it on a VDS and NFO's unwillingness to refund the unusable portion of our prepaid slots (30 of which were unusable but paid ...
