Re: Fall dedicated server setup sale

Every location has e3-1270v1's that aren't selling. How about retiring some of them and putting E5-1650 v4 in their place? I'm sure many people would jump at the chance to get a six core dedicated machine for $180. Four cores aren't always enough. If Datacenter space is the most costly item, could y...

Slow Ubuntu Mirror in Frankfurt

Could you guys do something about the slow Ubuntu mirror in Frankfurt? Updating at 620KB/s is a little bit lame. I had to waste 15m of my time scanning for a new mirror. I found two in the Internap Datacenter that run at 1gbp/s. (the max port speed) Other hosting providers host a local mirror if the...

Re: Summer discounts and news

A few more things. Why should people be allowed to fill up Windows machines with single cores? Is this not unfair to people who are running higher core counts, to have additional costs passed onto them because more Windows licenses have to be purchased? Why run XEN instead of KVM on Linux based mach...

Re: NFO doesn't offer enough threads

IMO, NFO needs a second pricing model in a few/couple flagship locations. Maybe call the current one cloud machine and the other SSD machine. (or something) Pure solid state storage and higher core to ram ratios would be beneficial. A lot more machines could be fit onto E7s at much lower costs. By n...

Re: NFO doesn't offer enough threads

@It'sRandinator NFO has good and bad locations just like [another host] does. I do a little bit more research when picking hosting providers and locations. I understand that NFO's configuration offers scalability. My main complaint is that it's not scalable enough. I am purchasing tons of extra reso...

Re: Summer discounts and news

I would really like to move one of my VPSs to NFO, but costs are the biggest thing for me. If I could get the following specifications it would probably be enough: 4 cores on an e5-2690v2 2gb of Ram 200gb of storage $15 USD base price Not the one to take NFO's side, but if you are getting a better ...

Re: Summer discounts and news

Will NFO offer a VDS package to compete with [another specific host]? They're offering 4 cores and 2gb of ram for $12 in two flagship locations. The hardware is just as strong as what NFO offers. I can run my game servers better there at a lower cost because of a higher core count. And the Gentoo Li...

Re: NFO doesn't offer enough threads

My game servers will only create a proportional amount of software threads, depending on the number of hardware threads available. I've noticed this on multiple source-engine and spark-engine servers. Things run faster with fewer lag spikes when the machine has more hardware threads. Multiple differ...

NFO doesn't offer enough threads

I would like to switch my game servers from anther host to NFO, but the problem is I need enough threads to run them efficiently. I have to pay $28 for 4 threads on NFO. I have a 4 thread configuration elsewhere that is just as fast NFO's e5-2690v2 for only $12. Will NFO ever offer power-packs to co...

Re: The current server configuration

The e5-2690v2s' are NFO's slower Xeon processors and they're generally overloaded more than the e5-2697v3s'. You'd notice 8-10% weaker single threaded performance on these at the very minimum during off-peak hours. Depending on machine load, that could be more like 15-20% slower during peak hours. T...

Re: Unlimited bandwidth for VDS?

Is it intentional that it cost more money to get the same amount of memory and bandwidth with a lower core count? It's cheaper to allocate 3 times as many HT cores than to upgrade memory and bandwidth to an equivalent amount. This pricing model seems like a lose-lose scenario that doesn't make sense...

Re: Unlimited bandwidth for VDS?

It doesn't make financial sense for a customer to purchase six HT cores to run a Utorrent web server either. Resources are being allocated they need don't need. Putting the same memory and bandwidth on two HT cores also costs more.

Unlimited bandwidth for VDS?

Will NFO ever have unlimited bandwidth on VDSs? It would be epic to use them as a seeding box for torrents. The problem is when you're seeing at 100mbps, even in premium locations that have additional bandwidth; the transfer cap approaches very quickly, sometimes in just a few days. This is only 0.1...

Not giving everyone the email to the owner's NFO account would be a great security change.
