Re: Cannot connect to MySQL database using external connecti

What exactly is the error message made when you attempt to connect? That would help indicate what the problem is, if it's not connecting, or if it's a bad password, or if it can't find that database, etc.

Re: New Mine Craft Server!

The "general" plugins like Essentials and CommandBook will give you fancy things like /time (Keep it day) and warps and whatnot. What are you using? Is it just a "give" plugin?

Re: New Mine Craft Server!

Oh and to answer your question, You'd want to hook yourself up with bukkit and either the Essentials plugin or the CommandBook plugin. Either one of those will give you a /give command where you can give yourself any number of all the blocks/items.

Re: Payment info on website

If you fancy yourself some scripting, you can do this yourself via PayPal's IPN, but, you get penalized for your donations in fees from PayPal. If you let them send it directly to NFo, there is no such penalty. Perhaps NFo can setup a link such as "nfoservers.com/coffers.php?user=emailhere" where th...

Re: wallpaper on desktop?

It is a setting designed to save bandwidth in RDP. I do believe it is a toggle you can set to do what you want.

Re: Other IP Questions

If you are trying to verify it as in, make sure that what you think you have is what you actually have, then there's a couple ways to check. First, check your NFO control panel. All your IPs will be listed on the page "IP list." Next, if you are on a Windows VDS, you can open the command prompt (Thr...

Re: Help forwarding Domain to VDS

As TimeX said, it is that easy. This would be done through the DNS Manager in domain dashboard. You'd want to edit (Should be the only one you have) A record for "@" (A wildcard that will satisfy yourdomain.com and www.yourdomain.com) and set it to the IP address of your VDS. You don't have to mess ...

Re: Ubuntu - Need help with directorys

Also, the easiest way to get to the start of where you want to be is go to the directory "~" which will take you right to your home directory. The Minecraft folder on my server is at ~/minecraft/, and you jut do "cd ~" to get there.

Re: Unbuntu Minecraft problems.

You honestly don't need any additional command line options. I have the x3470 machine and using the information I provide in the guide I wrote (Except I run with 8GB to Java), my server experiences almost 0 lag. (Except during full saves, still). I run the world map off the RAM disk (Which is someth...

I used this and it works perfectly.

You can also tell that it's working because your world folder on PuTTY shows up as a tealish color, meaning it's a link, not an actual folder.

Re: [VPS] Auto Reset?

Is it server itself closed? (As in, java is no longer running?) If it's just timing out then it's possible you're getting the ArrayIndexOutOfBounds -1 error which is a result of some sloppy Java programming.

Re: Limiting Outbound Per IP

In Minecraft you only ever have 81 chunks loaded to your client at any given time so world size shouldn't affect anything but the server (Since it doesn't have to load the same chunk twice for two players occupying that chunk, bigger world = more likely they are using different chunks). Also, if you...

Re: Limiting Outbound Per IP

You might actually be surprised to know that the majority of the Minecraft bandwidth is inbound to the server. I am not sure why this is, but here is an example:

This is on my Minecraft-only dedi.

HOW TO: Minecraft for the Ubuntu noob.

The following is a step by step process for starting a Minecraft server from your Ubuntu VDS or dedicated server. Do note that Minecraft is extremely I/O heavy and uses -A-LOT- of RAM (100MB per player, on average). Also, it does not like Open Java. So we'll cover that, too. I'm going to assume that...
