Backup script stopped being able to write to my VDS

I can not figure out what is causing it. Starting in July something happened so that I can no longer transfer my backups to my NFO VDS. I worked fine for years. The only thing i have done since setup is system updates. Nor have I made any changes to the script. Backups directory already exists Backi...

Re: VDS Gameservers with Webservers

IMO, unless you only have a static webpage or one with very few overall hits, you will probably be sorry if you run a web server and a game server on the same VDS. You should just get separate hosting or another VDS to use for web apps.

Re: Lost connection with database

Game server is in Chicago, I guess NFO hosting is in Seattle:

Code: Select all

11 16 ms 23 ms 15 ms inap-b1.e2.router.seattle.nfoservers.com [72.5.53.254]
12 18 ms 15 ms 14 ms hosted32.nfoservers.com [208.146.35.41]
Is NFO hosting only in Seattle?

Unable to update and upgrade 7 security updates

I am now on a 2-core VDS with Ubuntu 16.04 but unable to upgrade the latest security updates. It was working flawlessly yesterday before I up'd it from a 1-core to a 2-core. I tried several times and each time get the following.... Welcome to Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS (GNU/Linux 4.4.0-116-generic x86_64) *...

Re: VPN Setup on new VDS

Not for gaming. I use it to get around Comcast's blocking of web servers for getting access to my owncloud server in my study when I am away from home. I only connect through VPN when I know I am going to be out of town for a whole day, or more. If anyone knows how to get an xfinity modem to forward...

Ya, I've been afraid to try that. I read that it can make the system unbootable. Re: /boot sector in a new 1-core linux VDS

Just was wondering because I am having trouble getting enough space in my boot sector to finish an update. I have tried all the suggested ways to remove old kernels without success. It is showing only the current kernel and the one that did not finish installing because of "not enough space&quo...

/boot sector in a new 1-core linux VDS

Can anyone confirm that the file structure on a new VDS does not have a separate (way too small) /boot directory?

I tried all of that already. I got it down to the current kernel and the one that did not finish installing but am still getting the /boot does not have enough space.

Which of our sets of instructions are you using for your setup? https://forums.nfoservers.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=11034 If you're using TCP, have you tried UDP mode? And vice-versa? UDP - using all default settings. (As a side note, speedtest isn't a great testing site, but it's sad that their...
