Yes, PayPal will also accept e-check payments made directly from your checking account. All you'll need to do is verify the account, and it should give you that option when you order.

These forums are not meant to be used to advertise servers rented from other companies. Please don't do it again! I might add that your server is on terrible bandwidth. I ran a quick traceroute to it from one of our machines, and it shows that you are on Cogent -- the cheapest, lowest-quality bandwi...

Server listing sped up

I have significantly sped up the server listing (available from the "Servers" link on the left side of this page). The list should now typically load in less than one second, regardless of the number of servers in the list, and it will always show up-to-date information (it will not be cac...

That error occurs when the name specified in the referral blank is not valid. Just clear the blank or ask the person who is referring you to us for the correct identifier to put there. ;)

VAC is by default set to enabled for all servers. (And in fact, renters currently have no way of turning it off without specifically asking us for it.) If VAC does not seem to be working, it is likely because the server was temporarily unable to download the security module from SpeakEasy. Restartin...

This is a very old thread from when we first offered different locations (Cogent and InterNAP in Seattle). InterNAP was called "Premium", and Cogent was called "Value". Later, we called Verio LA "Value". Today, we just refer to them by their locations and providers.

We address this in the FAQ, actually.

We really, really prefer paypal because it eliminates a lot of potential hassles for both sides. If you have a personal objection to using it, you can email me and we can talk about other options such as money orders.

WWCL

I've been getting a lot of inquiries on installing and running WWCL lately, so a post on it might be appropriate. First, I'd like to point out that HLGuard can also (just as) effectively be used to check client configurations, and in fact this was originally all it did in its early CSGuard incarnati...

A new competitor of ours

This one's pretty amusing: Tom just pointed out to me that Nuclear Fallout will soon have a new competitor in Seattle -- GriffinRUN ! This is amusing because they'll be using the exact same bandwidth we use up here -- InterNAP! But, not surprisingly, they will be much more expensive than we are (tha...

LOL ;). Well, I think Seattle's awesome too. No downtime, always fast, and InterNAP can't be beat for its customer support. I've had them fix many problems over the last six months when customers have had higher pings than they should, for instance. Did you know that both Art of War Central and Game...

New things

I've made two important improvements to the rental system today: 1. I've implemented a more efficient referrals system. Now our renters need only give a link to someone -- something like http://rentals.nuclearfallout.net/rent.php?referrer=shmo and the system will handle the rest as far as keeping tr...

Unfortunately you can't have the server be the full 20 players with no reserve slots and have any admin able to connect whenever he/she wants -- it's not possible because when the admin tries to connect to a full server, the server will reject him and admin mod won't even know he tried. The best way...

Well, it could be a problem with the CPU usage on your server, or your Internet connection, or the rate settings on either your client or your server. (fy_iceworld in particular is a very demanding map on all three of those.) E-mail me about it and we'll try to whittle down the possibilities and get...

Hehe, you're right that the posts make LA sound bad ;). Not as bad as it seems, though, and we shouldn't have problems there for awhile longer now that they have their new hardware in place.
