You might actually be surprised to know that the majority of the Minecraft bandwidth is inbound to the server. I am not sure why this is, but here is an example:

If you are using Windows, your only consistent option for a Google Map style map is Overviewer, which can be found as a compiled binary. If you are on linux, you'd be crazy not to use PigMap. It's a bajillion (That's a number, right?) times faster than Overviewer.

Does anyone know of a windows application or other method to report CPU utilization, RAM usage and disk i/o to an image for display on a website? I see lots of these images online, but Google is playing games with me as to the actual method.

I'm running a Minecraft server off and on on my unmanaged VDS right now (Well, not this very second, but periodically). I'd be happy to help get you set up if you need it.
