I hope this is not an old question that has been hashed out before, I did not find an answer when I searched.
Is there a way to upgrade the server operating system from Windows Server 2003 to 2012 R2 in place, so that I would not have to download/upload all of the extra files that are on the current image? In the server control panel, it appears the only choice is a fresh install of the OS, which means I would have to back up the server content beforehand.
Thanks for your time.

Re: Server OS upgrade in place
Unfortunately, we don't have a mechanism for this. We don't allow private Windows licenses to be used, so only the installations with our product keys can be used, from the Server Control tab of your VDS control panel.

If it would help you, we can also provide a coupon to add a local separate SSD partition, so that you could back up files there (it can be set to remain in place in a reinstallation).
