Ping Bahaving Abnormally...

Post by QOOOOOOOOQ »

I know this is the fault of my ISP, the question is... why? Use an online IP tracker to look at the places it jumps to, and tell me that doesn't look retarded.

Code: Select all

  1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms [localhost]
2 25 ms 26 ms 23 ms [node my router connects to in my city]
  3 * * * Request timed out.
  4 23 ms 33 ms 51 ms [Los Angeles]
  5 69 ms 72 ms 74 ms [12.122.138.113]
  6 * * * Request timed out.
  7 162 ms 166 ms 174 ms [216.52.191.24]
  8 165 ms 168 ms 164 ms c-192-223-29-80.internap-dallas.nfoservers.com[192.223.29.80]
Most IPs blocked for security purposes... but as you can see, my IP jumps from the major city nearest me, to the middle of Kansas, then to Atlanta... before heading to Dallas. >.> Why?

My ping is only like this about once a week, for a few hours, so the route isn't always like this, I just don't know enough for any kind of justification. (and no, talking to my ISP won't do anything)

It is more useful to give the regular tracert output with its reverse DNS entries, because GeoIP is usually wrong when it comes to guessing router locations.

Please don't hesitate to email us directly to have us look at your routing and see if it can be improved from our end.
