Rust server restart

Post by mxmaster8 »

Is there a safe way to restart my server? I restarted it to change something in the description and it wiped? is that because it hasnt been backed up yet?

Before restarting the server, you should just need to run the "server.save" command to make sure that the world is saved.

Do i have to stop the server then restart in the control panel? or just choose restart and then do it? The reason im asking is I restarted the server to make some changes without saving and it completely wiped the server and gave a new map seed. Now that my server has high pop i dont want to mess it up.

Before restarting, you'd want to issue the change command. Afterwards, you should be able to just use "restart" from the Server Control tab.

Yeah, either using the command as an admin in game, or through the web RCON interface.
