I switched to NFO from Gameservers

Post by HotBox »

The best choice I have ever made. The control panel is one of the greatest ideas because it makes it easier for people who are not computer litterate to set up admins for their servers and things of that nature. I purchased my first server with Gameservers(GS), I was given the ftp information, and then left on my own. I had no clue what to do with FTP, what it was exactly, or how to access it. Due to research and several long hours i was able to figure out the ftp and find a client. However my mods did not work properly. Eventually i did figure everything out, so i was really bummed when i transfered to NFO to find out how easy they made everything, communication with support, setting up your server, and just information. I changed GSP due to serveral complaints about poor reg on GS and now with NFO i recieve none. Though there is a major price difference, it seems so small because in the olden days you were humiliated when other clans came to your server and commented on your poor reg.

What the hell are you talking about when you sign up at Gameservers(GS) everything you need to know about ftp, control panel is in the email they send you they even list a link with easy and detailed info on there forum if you have trouble. Talk about misleading

Code: Select all

The following GameServers.com subscription has been activated:

40 Players Counter Strike Source 100 TICK

Your default rcon password is *****.

Managing your server:

The easiest way to manage your server is by logging into your members area at https://my.gameservers.com and clicking [manage] next to your game server subscription. For beginners, we provide you with a server configuration control panel in this section of your members area.

For advanced users, we also allow you full access to your server files and configs via FTP. If you are not familiar with FTP, check out this thread in our forums: http://forums.gameservers.com/viewtopic.php?t=76

For a beginner's guide of rcon, check out the following thread:

We also recommend you read the gameservers "Half Life" forums for other helpful information:

How to perform an update:

If valve ever releases an update to source, all you have to do is restart your server from the members area and it will autoupdate from steam. This will cause the server to be inaccessible for about 15 minutes (depending on the size of the update) but when it comes back up it should have the new version of the game.

Additional info is available by clicking manage next to your subscription in the members area. We also recommend checking out our forums for valuable information:

For any other needs, such as contacting tech support or to check billing activity, login to your account at http://my.gameservers.com.
