Americas Army Proving Grounds Issue

Post by .=QUACK=.Major.Pain »

Well I had a working server on our old dedicated server, and got a vps server and copied everything over from the dedi server. But now the server manager will not open nor will the server start. It appears neither of these executable files will even launch.

So I thought maybe it was an issue of corrupt files, so I reinstalled all the files using Steam and set everything up to launch the server manager, but it still doesn't launch. Nor will the server start up.

I have a .bat to start the server, and added a "pause" so I could see if anything was happening, but looking at that and the task manager, the executables are not even starting, so they are not crashing because they never start.

I have been trying to get help on the AA forums, and everything I was told to check and suggestions supplied, I tried, but still nothing.

So the next avenue is to find out why this vps will not launch either executable file.

I've seen similar symptoms when I've been missing .NET or MSVC redist libraries. It's worth a shot to reinstall those.

New issue.

I have the server installed and running, and I see the server running in the server browser in game.

But no one can connect to the server.

Problem seems to be that port 8777 won't allow connections.

So I turn off the game server, restarted the vds to make sure everything was reset.
I have run telnet -b -a and I don't see anything using this port.
I tried using a port checker at http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ and tells me the port is closed.

I am only currently running:

- TS3 (changed port to 9988 as it conflicts with AA ingame TS3)
- minecraft server
- and an AA 2.8.5 server

Got it.

Seems the firewall exception didn't apply properly.
Once it was edited to the correct .exe, I got it working.
