Red Orchestra redirect

Post by axRhino »

According to the wiki the following are the instructions for setting up redirect for RO2.

Setting Up Redirect

To enable redirect for third party custom maps to be able to run on their server, admins needs to install the "cooked server" files in their "\ROGame\CookedPCServer" directory on the dedicated server.
Now unless users already have the cooked client map files installed manually or previously downloaded in their clients cache, the server will need to be set up to redirect clients without the map to download it from a redirect server. To enable this, the admin must open the roengine.ini file and add a new section near the bottom of the file. The section is called [IpDrv.HTTPDownload] and should look like this:

[IpDrv.HTTPDownload]
RedirectToURL=http://redirect.tripwireinteractive.com/ro2/

Where the RedirectToURL is a web location that is a repository of the client map files. The example above is the location of Tripwire's public redirect server which will host several near complete and complete custom maps. The client map file (.roe and not any supporting .upk packages) must be renamed as a .upk file. Thus RedirectTestMap.ROE should be renamed to redirecttestmap.upk on the redirect.

Here are my posts to tripwire.

Getting the following error:

Download Package "TE-Climbup" error opening file

I have reloaded the most refiles and used the prescribed .ini file.

No luck. Any suggestions or is the map just out of date?

My installed copy of TE-Bridges_of_Druzhina works just fine.

The .ini files.

[TE-Bridges_of_Druzhina ROUIDataProvider_MapInfo]
MapName=TE-Bridges_of_Druzhina
FriendlyName=Bridges_of_Druzhina
GameType=ROGame.ROGameInfoTerritories
PreviewImageMarkup=<Images:ui_textures.menus.HostG ame.MapSelect_Community>
Description=Bridges_of_Druzhina Map
LoadMapMovie=LoadScreen_Community
MapType16=ROMT_CombinedArms
MapType32=ROMT_CombinedArms
MapType64=ROMT_CombinedArms

[TE-Climbup ROUIDataProvider_MapInfo]
MapName=TE-Climbup
FriendlyName=Climbup
GameType=ROGame.ROGameInfoTerritories
PreviewImageMarkup=
Description=Climbup Map
LoadMapMovie=
MapTips=
MapTips=
MapType16=ROMT_InfantryOnly
MapType32=ROMT_InfantryOnly
MapType64=ROMT_InfantryOnly

[TE-Climbup ROUIDataProvider_WorldInfo]
MapName=TE-Climbup
FriendlyName=Climbup
PreviewImageMarkup=
Description=Climbup Map

Then:
Tested again and have strange download consistency issues.

I deleted my copy of TE-Bridges of Druzhina from documents>my games>redorchestra2>Ro Game....etc.

I restarted the server, changed the map TE- Bridges..., and joined the server. The map downloaded fine but the next player in got the download error.

I shut down the server, again deleted the Bridges file, started the server, changed to TE-Climbup and attempted to join. This time I got the download error.

Something is amiss here.

I think I'm getting Bridges via steam because I subscribed to it.

Our redirect is here:
http://anarchicx.site.nfoservers.com/ro2/

This is the addy I used in the redirect above and you can see the two maps listed there.

This post suggests the versions might be different.

One of our users subscribed to them via steam but still could not join once he downloaded those maps.

Another post suggests that the Steam Workshop and the ingame redirect are not compatible with each other...

Ive had no success getting this to work and have posted on tripwire's website for support. No one there seems to be able to help. If anyone has successfully set this up I would appreciate some help.

Have you tries using lowercase map names in the redirect / in the config files? I know it's a known issue for RO2 redirects hosted on Linux.
