vps linux - ubuntu-desktop VNC client

Post by jorgeevil8 »

Hello, I have a problem with my vps. I install ubuntu-desktop it seems everything is installed properly, also install vncserver, this is the command to start the server (tightvncserver: 1-geometry 1366x768-depth 24)

when I connect from my windows computer (vnc client) delivery to the remote desktop well here I leave the picture:

But when it passes between 5 to 15 minutes the connection is closed automatically and I can not do that, because all processes are closed with this, here I leave the picture:

Not sure, but I will give you this advice: Avoid GUI interfaces on linux(although the ubuntu one might be OK)--they eat up resources(which in turn costs you money as a renter, less resources for servers). Google can get you through most linux administration, it isn't worth running a GUI.

Good luck

You may wish to look into X11 forwarding. You could combine this with changing settings for SSH to keep the session alive. Keep in mind you would be keeping a user logged in so I would not do this with root. (You shouldn't be logging in with root anyway for a user session)
