VDS Crash

Post by .=QUACK=.Major.Pain »

So I don't know what happened, but our VDS just total crashed and I had to force a restart. But it seems the data on the server is restored to about 24 hrs ago. Anything that was saved today had gone.

Is there someway to retrieve what was saved today?

It sounds as though your OS was set up to perform write-caching and hadn't written anything for 24h (which is not the default configuration and I really do not recommend). On our end, we promptly write everything to disk and so whatever we have is never more than 30s behind.

I don't think there would be a way to recover that.

I found a cool 7 days to die server manager which will do everything I need.
as many restart with player warnings as I want.
World backup/restore as often as I want.
etc...

If youre using that 7daystodieservermanager.exe that was what I tried to warn about in the other thread. Program works great, scrolls server messages but the problem is with backing up the world. When the 7z program kicks in to save and compress your world data, the CPU usage is going to go way up and will probably cause your box to lag. Just keep that in mind when you schedule your backups. Youl want an off peak time to do your backups.

Did you reduce the compression format?
