Windows 2008 R2 vs Windows 2012 R2

Post by advancebenjamin »

In terms of raw performance, which one do people prefer here for a dedicated server?
I'm getting mixed reports about the performance. Some say 2008 R2 performs better, while some say 2012 R2 is.

For mainly game servers, and MySQL DB and web (IIS) as a side, which one do you prefer purely for performance?

I would expect the performance to be comparable.

On a VDS, I recommend 2008 R2 because of a bug in 2012 R2 that prevents it from booting every time.

For IIS, 2012 R2 is a good choice because it has the latest version.
