My server is going out of memory!

Post by ViRuSeS »

Hello,
I have VPS 2 Cores from NFO, i installed OpenGamePanel.org to manage my servers, it's free and great and easy, i had no problems at all, suddenly i found my server down after i got a ddos attack when i went to VNC console i saw out of memory...
I contacted NFO support they told me your server is unmanaged we can't help you. I formatted my server and i had the same problem.
I made a thread to ask about with OS to use all suggested windows2008 R2 since it's easy and fast. I used it same problem out of memory i installed Ubuntu same problem now!
By the way i'm only using 500MB from 2GB Just 1 csgo server and 1 teamspeak3 server!
I'm really disappointed!
The support told me to post on forums and they said that i'll get help here so here i'm trying, don't tell me change the panel it's the problem without being sure, give me better free panel and i'll change it! If the problem is really from panel tell me.
Here's the logs they are too long i tried to cut last logs:

Not to sound rude or anything, but based on this and your other question, is there a reason you are not using the managed option for your server?

Where are you seeing that you are out of memory?

What is the output from free -m?

Also, moving this to the correct forum.

Sure thanks for posting, because i don't need 4 cores for now and because i like to use root to manage other things, i don't usually get problems it may be the panel everything was working before like 3 years to now.

Usually when my machine is under attack, it may be exploit! Everything is working well but suddenly out of memory and my machine crashs i can't connect to SSH or servers, i contacted the support but they didn't find anything from hardware/network side for now.

free -m output:

Code: Select all

root@viruses:~# free -m
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 1996 1486 509 6 67 866

Swap: 0 0 0
Sorry for wrong forum and thanks for reply!

That shows you currently have 1444 MB of available memory.

Are you running a webserver on the same VDS? Improperly configured webservers are a common reason for OOM.

I would recommend that you check the access log for your web server and look to see if you're being attacked. If there were quite a few requests coming in at once, you may need to reduce the number of clients allowed to connect at the same time.

Did you mean from my OpenGamePanel, or from my FTP files?
http://xxxx.com/panel/home.php?m=admini ... tch_logger from here i didn't find any try to login
If you mean from files can you please tell me where i can find them? Also i'd like to limit them to 50 like you do in your webhost as i saw in your thread about 50 are enough and it makes sense.

I don't know your panel but the logs I'm referring to are the access_log files that are typically in /var/log/apache2 or similar. The number of clients allowed might be in /etc/conf.d/apache2/00_mpm.conf or similar.

PM: Why there is no option to edit post on this forum?
Here is my config file i edit somethings from google, but i'm posting it here because i need to configure it for game panel and you have the best experience about it so i'll be happy to see your recommendation.

Code: Select all

root@viruses:~# cat /etc/apache2/apache2.conf
# This is the main Apache server configuration file. It contains the
# configuration directives that give the server its instructions.
# See http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/ for detailed information about
# the directives and /usr/share/doc/apache2/README.Debian about Debian specific
# hints.
#
#
# Summary of how the Apache 2 configuration works in Debian:
# The Apache 2 web server configuration in Debian is quite different to
# upstream's suggested way to configure the web server. This is because Debian's
# default Apache2 installation attempts to make adding and removing modules,
# virtual hosts, and extra configuration directives as flexible as possible, in
# order to make automating the changes and administering the server as easy as
# possible.

# It is split into several files forming the configuration hierarchy outlined
# below, all located in the /etc/apache2/ directory:
#
# /etc/apache2/
# |-- apache2.conf
# | `-- ports.conf
# |-- mods-enabled
# | |-- *.load
# | `-- *.conf
# |-- conf-enabled
# | `-- *.conf
# `-- sites-enabled
# `-- *.conf
#
#
# * apache2.conf is the main configuration file (this file). It puts the pieces
# together by including all remaining configuration files when starting up the
# web server.
#
# * ports.conf is always included from the main configuration file. It is
# supposed to determine listening ports for incoming connections which can be
# customized anytime.
#
# * Configuration files in the mods-enabled/, conf-enabled/ and sites-enabled/
# directories contain particular configuration snippets which manage modules,
# global configuration fragments, or virtual host configurations,
# respectively.
#
# They are activated by symlinking available configuration files from their
# respective *-available/ counterparts. These should be managed by using our
# helpers a2enmod/a2dismod, a2ensite/a2dissite and a2enconf/a2disconf. See
# their respective man pages for detailed information.
#
# * The binary is called apache2. Due to the use of environment variables, in
# the default configuration, apache2 needs to be started/stopped with
# /etc/init.d/apache2 or apache2ctl. Calling /usr/bin/apache2 directly will not
# work with the default configuration.
