VDS crashing and issues

Post by .=QUACK=.Major.Pain »

So last night we had an event of some sort. We noticed our TS3 was crapping out and voices were becoming very robotic. We were only running a TS3 server and Sinusbot musicbot. Using less than 1/2 of the resources. Probably around 1/3.

So I restarted the entire VDS, it came back up, still had the same issue for the next 10 mins.

Tried to start the sinusbot musicbot, and the application will not start anymore.
I am left reinstalling it and loosing about 300+ music files that were uploaded.

I don't know what the issue was last night, but somewhere things got corrupted.

I haven't seen other problems like the one you described and there were no alarms or unusual events last night on our end. It sounds as though you might have seen an attack or experienced a software-related issue. It's always possible that a Xen bug was involved, though not terribly likely, since the I/O code is pretty well-tested.

Are you looking to troubleshoot it? Your post doesn't contain a question.

I gave up on it. Don't have the time to dick around with it and figure out what's up.
I have a feeling that windows is corrupted. Other executables won't even start up.

I'd recommend backing up your files and then re-imaging.

I hope that a malicious actor (e.g., a virus) did not harm you.

Late last night we had it happen again where our TS3 became extremely choppy and robotic like.
Checked our server and things appeared to be running smoothly. Only TS3 running on a 2-core VDS using very little resources.

Did you check for an attack on the TS3 server, such as someone hammering it with fake connections?
