On the order page for VDS, I noticed that the choices for Windows-OS are currently only:
Windows Server 2008 R2
Windows Server 2012
Windows Server 2012 R2
Running a really on Windows Server OS is kind of a pain (especially when it comes to the Windows 8.x-like interfaces under RDP). It would be better to be able to run Windows Server 2016, which uses the Windows-10.x-like interface, etc.
When you say "Running a really", what are you referring to? In terms of server hosting, these OSes are all very similar from a performance and usability standpoint. Windows 2012 R2 and Windows 2016, in particular, have pretty much all the same tools and interfaces. The main difference would be in a higher IIS version, if you use IIS.
Due to its significant additional cost when virtualized, Windows 2016 will likely not be available until sometime next year here (along with Windows 2019). Its availability will likely be accompanied by a price bump for Windows installs (for new signups/upgrades).

Do you have an ETA for 2016/2019 support (I believe that you have to move to core-based licensing with its increased costs when your SPLA agreement next renews after October 2016)? Not looking forward to the price increase though.
Likely October, yes. Windows 2019 will also become available. Our testing suggests it is only an incremental upgrade from 2016, but it will be given "mainstream support" by Microsoft until 2024 instead of 2022.
