Is there a way to turn a dedicated server off from the control panel?
That's the question. I can do a power cycle but didn't see a way to pause the server for an extended time.
Re: Is there a way to turn a dedicated server off from the control panel?
Is this a full dedicated server or virtual dedicated server?

Virtual I think. How can I tell? Sorry new to the world..

For a virtual dedicated server, you should be able to enter server control and press "turn off", like this:
This will turn off the server indefinitely, until you turn it on from the control panel again.
As for how to tell the difference between the two, any VDSes will be denoted as "(virtual)" in the control panel whereas dedicated servers will not be.

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately I don't see that option.

For a virtual dedicated server, the UI will look something like this:
If you have a full dedicated server, the UI may look a bit different. It should be clear which you have via the options. Can you take a screenshot of the control panel if you still are not seeing it?

Here is what mine looks like.

Based on the options you have, you may actually have a dedicated server and not a virtual one. What options do you have under "server control"?
Re: Is there a way to turn a dedicated server off from the control panel?
For both server types, it is best to do shutdowns and reboots from within the OS whenever possible to ensure a graceful shutdown. From outside of the OS, such as when done with the NFO control panel, a graceful shutdown is not always possible.

I believe what Alphaboy references here is turning off indefinitely

Naleksuh, what I said above would still apply in that situation.

Also, to clarify, on a VDS, you'd want to use the "pause" function instead of "off". If you turn the VDS off, it will likely be turned back on by our system automatically, due to an internal watchdog process that helps with crashed VDSes.
