Hi,

Is the server running out of resources? Also are you running the latest version of Java?

What kind of VDS do you have and how many players are connected if any when the problem starts?

Hm that is really odd. That should be no problem for an MC server.

One of our customers wrote this. Maybe their is an issue with your server set up?

I'm hoping that another MC user can chip in with more advice. What command line (and memory settings) are you using for Minecraft, though, to start off with? Does "dmesg" show any unusual errors, and are you seeing normal RAM usage in top/vmstat/free output? How much hard drive activity do you see with "vmstat 1"?

You honestly don't need any additional command line options. I have the x3470 machine and using the information I provide in the guide I wrote (Except I run with 8GB to Java), my server experiences almost 0 lag. (Except during full saves, still). I run the world map off the RAM disk (Which is something you may want to look into).

One thing that can make a HUGE difference is plugins. If you can, list the plugins that are running and I and hopefully some others can take a look and offer you some advice.

If at all possible, with Bukkit plugins, use MySQL. Using SQLite on things like BigBrother can be disastrous for your server. In 4 days, I had 12 million items on there. Using SQLite to hunt for rollbacks would bring your server to a screeching halt. Also, If you are using the Essentials plugins, DO NOT have it try to reclaim RAM when someone logs out. Let Java hang on to all the RAM you assign it. That's why you gave it to Java, don't try to get skimpy and steal it. Every RAM reclamation action causes a lot of lag.

There's lots of stuff you can be doing.
