Tested it yesterday with everything off, and it was about the same.

What site are you using to test the speed?

Those speed test sites are universally slower than we are, so they're not good at testing our capacity.

Packet loss occurs when you hit your maximum connection speed, just as it would for you at home. If you're getting packet loss, we can look at the capacity further as a potential problem. If you're not seeing packet loss, then you're not hitting a ceiling in this respect.

I wouldn't know how to tell.

We aren't quite sure, but it seems out of the blue, we can be all at a ping from 50-170 area with 15 people on, and then out of no where, we all jump to 300-400+.

We kick the person with the highest ping, and about 2-3 minutes later it settles down again. I am not sure if it's due to a player or the server itself. We had people from Korea and Argentina and Ireland last night and it was smooth until the spikes.

There is a good chance it is not related to the player.

Try downloading the files here;
http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewto ... =47&t=4888

If you show a good speed which you most likely will that can help rule out the connection issue.

Last I would say try running the server without any other servers running at the moment. See if that has any affect.

I tried to download each:

1st link - 1100 kb/s
2nd link - 830 kb/s
3rd link - 1300 kb/s
4th link - 1200-1600 (jumps all over the place)

All varied in times from 45min to 1hr and 20min.

Isn't that extremely low?

Those are decent speeds however for a VDS I would expect to see faster. What OS are you running?

Thought they would have been much faster.

I get the same download speeds at home for those links.
Thought servers would have ran at higher speeds.

I am at a loss with this.

We had a full server with 26 players, and the cpu and memory were running at about the same as with 4-10 people. Around 14-34% CPU and 213,000 for the memory. So near empty and full runs same.

Things were running good, and when some joins with a ping in the 300-400 area, it brings everyone else on the server up to 250-350 pings.
Once we kick this person, the pings settle down. My assumption is still not the server itself, but internet/network issues?

But we did notice that the server would start skipping at times, so I dropped out of the game and watched the task manager processes again, and when ever the server skips, the CPU drops to 0 for 4-5 secs, and then goes to 14-22%, and then seconds later it drops to 0 again. This keeps repeating for a bit then stops. Then a couple minutes later, it starts again.

Why would the CPU keep dropping from the teens to 0 and keep bouncing?

Update:

I was on the serve via remote access, and was editing a .txt file for another server, and the server completely froze for 10-12 secs. The guys were on TS3, and they said the game server was freezing at the same time I was editing the file. So it's doesn't appear to be just game related, but an issue with the box itself.

Contradicts my last post. lol

Hm. If you send in a support request I can assign it to John and have him take a look at the machine it self to see if there is an issue going on. I am not 100% sure the root cause as of now.
