Windows Server 2008 - Block Port on only 1 of 2 IPs

Post by TheLaughingMan »

Hey I currently have 2 IPs dedicated to my dedicated server. I am trying to block the RDP port on one of the IPs only. When I go to firewall it will allow me to block inbound connections on the port but I think that will apply to both of my IPs. I have looked around and not found anything on the matter.

Do you mean something like this?

Edit:

If you are on a physical machine, this likely won't translate over :x

This screenshot is from an Unmanaged VDS running 2k8.

If this is an unmanaged machine, you won't have the Firewall page that Cody mentioned. But, the OS will allow you to configure its built-in firewall as you described. If you are following our instructions at http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewto ... =46&t=7073, you would do this by modifying the rule to have the local IP that you want to be blocked with the addition of the text "localip=x.x.x.x", where "x.x.x.x" is the single IP that you want it applied to.

Be very careful with this and always experiment using temporary rules (like the ones in our post) -- it's easy to lock yourself out of a machine due to a firewall mistake!
