You have me a bit stumped. Further troubleshooting would involve strace, different kernels, tcpdump, and other interesting techniques.

UPDATE: It could be a problem with my country... several tests on several connections here have failed, yet my friend in Denmark had no troubles connecting to the correct ports.

An interesting development indeed...

Ah, so a firewall at your ISP? That would make some sense. It really does seem like a firewall problem somewhere along the path.
