So, I run a very active website and running into a small issue that I personally haven't dealt with on other hosts with other projects. When mail is sent say, if I was to write any one of you an email, it will automatically land in the recipients spam folder by default.
How would I go about correcting this? It's affecting some business correspondences that I'd prefer avoiding so that there aren't lapses in business discussion and negotiations with other companies we're working with. Alternatively, it becomes a problem when users can't do password resets easily without first looking in their spam folder.
Initially I did a support ticket and I was referred to this forum. Thanks!

Check your domain or server IPs against whatever spam monitoring service blacklist your contacts use.

Re: Sent mail goes to users spam folder
How can you identify the spam monitoring service? I've had reports of it happening on providers as simple as Gmail and Yahoo mail. It's strange though, as it doesn't land into my spam folder, but I figure mine automatically doesn't spam folder it as at some point I verified it as legit mail.

In addition, adding you to contacts should prevent your emails from being sent to their spam inbox.

Re: Sent mail goes to users spam folder
Thanks for the resources. Any way to add records to the DNS or anything to prevent this on future spam software or is it a per provider situation?

You can use this tool to check your mail server for common requirements to get your mail delivered properly.
If you don't have reverse DNS records set, you can do it with most providers. At NFO if you are using a VDS you can open a ticket to get the ability to set reverse DNS in your control panel. I'm not sure how this would be done on an unmanaged dedi, but I would assume it is a similar process.

Re: Sent mail goes to users spam folder
Hmm, as far as I know, we're still under the "mail.nfoservers.com" using the webmail setup. Wouldn't that mean the email would ultimately be through the nfo servers info? The way I understand it, and maybe I'm incorrect, but isn't it similar to say whatever@vastgamer.com being just an "account" under the nfo mail service?

It appears the IP address I'm associated with is only blocked on two spam services.
Re: Sent mail goes to users spam folder
I would definitely make a support ticket regarding this so that NFO can investigate the cause of this and remedy it.Chris Lenga wrote:It appears the IP address I'm associated with is only blocked on two spam services.

I really don't like it when 3rd parties add IP addresses under our control to blacklists without sending some sort of basic notification.
