Email to POST

I was looking around at some options online that when you received an email they would immediately send a POST message to a http server for processing. I was wondering if nfo had any such thing or if it would be possible for me to make one using the resources on shared hosting or possibly using an unmanaged VDS. I only know how to do php somewhat but I'm still learning things. Anyone got any leads or ideas? I don't really want to purchase another service online to do this for me if the solution could be done with what I have.
