Total noob question

I have downloaded a full backup of my phpbb forums in gzip format from my old host.

Will I be able to restore it here, once my account is set up (this week end)?

Or is there some other method to use to transfer my entire forum over.
My time is limited because other host is shutting down so, thanks for timely responses.

You should be able to restore it by extracting the files and also importing your old database (that you will need to export at the old host). You will also need to edit the config.php file manually to reflect the new database information.
