Feature not listed in the chart.

Post by Jordan Brière »

Hello,

I've noticed that an auto-installer for Django is available in your CP but that feature is not listed in the chart. Thought I would let you know, in case you want to update it.

Thanks,

Jordan

We removed this from the chart on our webpage some time ago because our Django autoinstaller is old and needs to be updated.

In its newer versions, Django stopped supporting FastCGI, which we previously used for it, in favor of mod_wsgi. We don't currently run mod_wsgi on our webhosting machines and have not investigated its feasibility, so adding it will take some extra work.

One major concern that we always have with our webhosting service is security, and this mostly comes down to user isolation. All customers are run under separate accounts that can't (by default) access the files of other users, and their Apache processes are run under the same user through mpm-itk. Users also can't write to shared system folders. Any new Apache module (like mod_wsgi) or system utility will have to also support this isolation model.
