What does the community suggest as a good way to start in making a home page? To be more specific- which autoinstaller is recommended???

phpbb, then work form there to improve it.
Re: New to Webhosting
phpbb like he said is good to start unless you are able to install phpnuke (not on the auto installer but it should be ) witch gives u a home page forums and alot of other cool stuff.

Re: New to Webhosting
We used to have an autoinstaller for phpnuke, however it has become rather old and outdated. A newer and better CMS alternative to phpnuke is Drupal, which we do include an autoinstaller for.

I also found E107 to be very manageable and user friendly. Also a bit more secure as far as my noobness can tell.

Re: New to Webhosting
you can use E107, it's fairly easy for those who are new to the whole having a site thing, we dropped it beacuse it really didn't our needs it had so we switched to phpbb, and I've modded heavily.

www.e107.org
I am using it on my three sites:
www.ontargetlan.com
www.rezurrectiongaming.com
www.ontargetgamecenter.com
Plugins are easy, themse are easy to modify, you can even find custom things done for little to no money.
