Ftp etc....
Ok I am a musician and I am wanting to get my music out, but there are couple of problems. 1 ftp How can I set up it up so I can just give them a link to the file and it will download it etc. Then I wanted to make it were couple people can upload there stuff to it as well and if some one needs to download they can. I have seen in a couple other post that you only have 1 main account but is there a program you would be able to point me to so I can make multiple accounts and how to implement guess could say?
Re: Ftp etc....
While I can't think of any off the top of my head, there are a number of software solutions that allow you to set up a set where users can upload their own content to their own account for download by others. Many CMS site solutions have such functions built in, also. Others here may be able to give specific recommendations, but you can likely find quite a few by doing a search for file sharing web hosting software, or something to that effect.

OK i did some searching and all the stuff I came up with was complicated and mi amigos haven't called me back yet to help so could you point me to a website or something that could help wit this?
Re: Ftp etc....
let me just start off by saying that giving website recommendations is very difficult as there is almost no such thing as a cookie cutter website that will fit 'every' situation. so let me just elaborate on that by saying that the only way to have a website tailored to fit your exact needs is done custom by yourself or paying a respected company to do it for you...
now, for some content management systems (cms, this is what you were referring to by 'applications') there is:
OWL (http://owl.anytimecomm.com/) - directly for file sharing
Drupal (http://drupal.org/) - open source, powerful cms
Joomla (http://www.joomla.org/) - open source, very versatile cms
WordPress (http://www.wordpress.org/) - open source, very customizable blog-type cms
now the first one is primarily aimed towards file sharing and document sharing, the last 3 are more geared towards an all around appeal. the last three are very broad cms systems, they can be turned into almost any type of website by searching through their addons/plugins/scripts databases on their respected websites. web design and coding are very expensive, so unfortunately it is difficult to find any 'hard' advice and help to code these things by basically asking 'someone help me do this' but you will find some more love and affection by attempting to code things yourself and then asking for help after at least attempting. i hope this has brought some light to some of the difficulties you are having, post back with any feedback or further inquiries for assistance.

Well actual website designing and stuff i got down. coding not so much, I know vary little hence were my friend Wyatt comes in, seems hes a codeing good and stuff, and makes programs but both of us being collage students its hard as you prolly know. my last post made me seem like an ass to so sorry about that. just had a bad day today. Well l think I am going to go with owl for now, seems the most basic. So now the question is how do I go about implementing it. I wnrt to the support section and it went to load and then Firefox crashed on me. Right now I am not at my home comp so I am having a bit of a hard time with this comp I am using.

Hello, I personally use 4Share Premium for all my ArmA-II Mod Files files needed to play on my server. I also use it for my own personal backups as well and I've done the sharing thing. As long as you're compliant with their rules and the files are yours and legit. Check them out.

Ok I found one, its called fileZilla. Now could some one give me a crash course how to implement it, or will I have to do a trial and error type deal. there link is http://filezilla-project.org/ if that helps anyone.
Re: Ftp etc....
FileZilla is an FTP client and server, so it wouldn't be useful for HTTP. If you'd prefer to have full control over FTP, you'd need to use an unmanaged VDS for this.
