How do I correctly configure Dynmap?

Post by kraze »

Though it is technically against the TOS (due to being a sub-service), we have a number of customers who have installed the Dynmap plugin for Bukkit, and we have not stopped this practice in cases where it has not significantly affected the performance for other customers on the same machine.

One problem that customers have come to us about with Dynmap is that it binds to all IPs on the machine hosting the server, by default, and this needs to be changed in order for the plugin to work correctly, through the following procedure:

1. Open up your local copy of the plugins/DynMap/configuration.txt file in a text editor such as Notepad. (If it doesn't show correctly in Notepad, you may need to use an editor that handles Unix-style line breaks, like Wordpad.)
2. Search for "webserver-bindaddress: 0.0.0.0".
3. Replace "0.0.0.0" with the IP of your server, as shown on the "Description" page.
4. Save the file and re-upload it to your server through FTP.

Within this configuration file there are also many other options, some of which can be tweaked to lessen the load of your server and increase performance. We recommend taking a look and experimenting with these.

@Kraze^NFo> Out of context!
@Juski> Doesn't matter!
@Juski> You said I had a valid point! You can't take it back now! It's out there!
