How do I restore only some files from a snapshot?

Post by Edge100x »

There's no direct way to restore one or more files from an old snapshot of the server (as listed on the "File manager" page), but there are a couple of ways you can change your server to get the mix of old and new that you want.

This one is better if most of what you want is in the old snapshot:
  1. Stop the server, using the "Server control" page.
  2. Using the server FTP, download any changed files that you might want to keep from the current version of your server.
  3. Restore the desired earlier snapshot using the "File manager" page of your control panel and wait for the server to come back online.
  4. Stop the server.
  5. Re-upload the changed files through FTP.
  6. Start the server.
This one works better if the current server is mostly what you need, but there's something specific that you need from the old snapshot:
  1. Examine the list of snapshots on the "File manager" page to see approximately what minute the snapshot finishes saving each hour.
  2. Come back a little before when the next snapshot will be created. Refresh the page until the new snapshot appears in the list.
  3. Restore the desired old snapshot of the server and wait for the server to come back online.
  4. Using the server FTP, download any files that want from this old version of your server.
  5. Restore the newer snapshot (the one that was just made) using the "File manager" page of your control panel.
  6. Stop the server, using the "Server control" page.
  7. Upload the old files back onto the server through FTP.
  8. Start the server.
