FRAKKING FINALLY! It looks like it'll be available in less than 4 hours. Will you be able to have this ready for our servers around that time (11:00PM PST), NFO folks?

I don't know what I would've done if it came any later. My server has not been able to stay up for longer than 2 hours at all lately and now I'm afraid that my seriously dedicated regulars are thinking that it's just my server and thinking about giving up the server as one of their regulars... :x

Do these get rolled out an applied automatically? Or will we need to do it ourselves?

I think it'll be the same as it has been. That is, it will apply itself and restart the server automatically if the server is empty. Otherwise, you'll need to restart the server yourself and it'll be applied.

The only time required on our side is the time it takes to get the files from EA and send them out to all server locations. Beyond that, the timing all depends on EA.

This one has been long awaits folks, lets keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.

Okay, so 11:00PM PST is when EA will make the files available to you? Then we'll have to wait a bit for our location to have the files ready?

In a nutshell, yes. This is assuming that the files will be available at the time and are not late. It is also unknown how large of an update this is, and as a result, how long it will take to receive the files and then move them out to all locations.

Either way though, we'll have it read ASAP after they are available.

We have the files already and the update will be done as soon as they give us the go signal. By the time clients can play again, all our servers will be R9.

I can confirm the go signal has been given. I personally authorize you to begin implementing the updates to all the servers. Or you can start/test it with our server first. :mrgreen:

How big is the download? Can you tell us that much? Or how large the clientside update is?

You don't want your server applied to R9 yet, since it won't be playable by any clients if I do that :).

For easy reference later, here's the text of the DICE blog post:
Patch notes for Nov 22 patch
Major client update for the PC version Battlefield 3 as well as a server-side update for all platforms.

The update will be made on Nov. 22nd 7:00 AM UTC / Nov. 21st 11:00 PM PST.

We’ll share release timing on the console patches as soon as we are clear on the timing, these take a bit longer due to console certification process.

• Fixed multiple problems when using multiple monitors (Eyefinity / Surround).

A detailed look at Squad refinements

Today's PC client patch features numerous tweaks to Squad functionality and is part of our ongoing efforts to make it easier to play with friends and Platoon mates. These changes will also be implemented for consoles when we release the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 updates shortly. Stay tuned for the exact date of the console updates.

First, we need to look at how joining with Squads and Platoons affects the balance of teams. Initially, servers are commanded to equal out each side, so joining with friends can impact that balance while joining with Platoons further hinders this. As a result we have made some adjustments to the in-game Squad management screen.

For PC, you are now able to highlight the various Squads and select which one you wish to join by selecting a Squad and then clicking the Join Squad button. Please note that the Squad Privacy option still allows 2 man Squads which, during 64 player sessions, can lead to players with no squad position –- the number of people with no Squads will be shown at the bottom of the Squad selection list.

After the patch is applied to consoles (in the near future) you will be able to join Squads by cycling through the list and selecting which Squad you wish to join.

Nice to see dead nades will kill. Cant tell you how many times I was pissed that Im cooking a nade, get killed, and nothing happens from what should have been a dead nade. That will be sweet!
