Question Procon users regarding maps.

Post by IcEWoLF »

Do you guys have any issues with map rotations?
I use the NFo Map rotation but sometimes I've noticed the map getting stuck on the same map few rounds in a row.
I don't think it's anything from NFo's end, most likely procon's end.

Once in a while the map will hang and not rotate, It just keeps restarting.
Usually restarting the server takes care of it but Saturday that didn't work.
I thought procon was the issue and turned it off, restarted and the server still was stuck on the same map.
Cleared the maplist and restarted, ddin't work. Turned of the NFO Map Cycle and that didn't work.
Gave up as nothing worked and scheduled a Server wipe and restore from backup. Got up Sunday morning and all was working fine. Server and Procon are both again running fine, don't know what happened.

I did find the correct rcon command to roll the map.
"mapList.runNextRound" works when the server is not stuck on a map.

R12 is just around the corner so hopefully that will clear it up.

We noticed this yesterday.

In Procon we changed our map rotation, and it never followed the sequence of maps lists. With NFO disabled.

I then tried the say list with a Procon plugin and same result.

I turned off the Procon plugin, cleared the Procon maplist, and enabled only NFO map cycler, and the same thing, random and sonetimes repeating maps.

Something has gone real screwy. Not related to the panels it seems.
Just kind of random.

Ok, glad it wasn't just me going crazy here lol!
Another BF3 screw up of the year.
Also I've noticed when I restart the server it no longer starts from the default map I've set (caspian border) for some reason it randomly chooses one of the maps from the list.

EPIC FAIL DICE!

If you use the NFO map cycler, when you start the server, it should start with whatever map it was running when you last stopped it. It will then continue with your defined cycle in the correct order, picking up from where it was before.

This problem started with our servers yesterday also. I cleared the map list in Procon and used the NFO control only and it throws in random maps or sticks on one map. Any resolution to this?

I haven't seen any glitches in the NFO cycler recently, but if you submit a support request, I can check your server specifically.

We had a similar issue.

It seemed to cycle only a few maps and not the entire list.
And the maps never seemed to follow the sequence they were listed in.

We also made sure the Procon maplist was cleared out.

Can't say 100%, but check through NFO panel and see if your maplist file is empty.
I think we checked and still had issues.

We just stopped using it because we never got to play some of the maps.

I don't mind looking at individual servers when it comes to the map cycler, and I know that DICE has mentioned that there were problems with the game itself in terms of how it handles cycles. In every case that I've looked at so far, the cycler has been working correctly.

You can see exactly the commands it runs when the map changes by running !nextmap in the rcon tool and watching the output (as the game repeats it back).

Im pretty sure its a game issue. Ive had the map cycle hang up once or twice. I use Procon to handle the map cycle. A server restart has fixed the issue for me.

We noticed the maps being buggy at times too. Sometimes maplist changes don't stick. Using SQDM and flipping to a 64 conquest maplist when the server is full, also is tricky lol.
