TimSad's Blaze & Player Dumps thread

Post by TimSad »

Okay, 2 out of 3 of my LA servers have been constantly dropping from the crappy EA backend within the last hour or so and in turn is dumping all of my players from those servers. Thankfully, my more popular server (Operation Metro 1000 tickets server) isn't being effected by this. The 2 servers mentioned are losing connection with Blaze almost simultaneously each time it happens.

Can you guys tell EA to get their s**t together? If not, where can I go to do so?

EDIT: Oh! I spoke too soon! The same just now happened to my Operation Metro server! This is getting ridiculous!

DICE has been aware of the frequent Blaze problems for some time now and says that they're still looking into them. They have not yet given us an ETA on a fix/workaround.

I also see that a couple of DDoS attacks are hitting VDS customers in Chicago right now. These don't appear to be affecting the location as a whole, or even other VDSes on the same machines, but if you're one of those customers (and you see lots of extra traffic in the graphs on your "Server usage" page), contact us, and we can take a look at whether it can be effectively filtered.

Sadly, it's a big problem that caused our server to go from top 100 servers all to way down to basically empty all the time. Not renewing due to the issues, I mean what's the point?

One server crashes (not dumps) daily. Another ran fine for days and now has sat empty all day, probably not receiving quick match players now for what ever reason. They both disconnect from BLAZE every so often, so freaking frustrating.

dumbest thing ever is having people kicked out of the server because it loses connection to the garbage backend.

Exactly! Why does it HAVE to do that? The server can just maintain whatever data it usually sends while it's connected to it until it reestablishes connection, right?

EDIT: Oh, actually I think that the players are never connected directly to the server these days. I think how it works is, the players connect to the backend which is connected to the server? Correct me if I am wrong.

Players connect directly to the server and to the Blaze back-end. The server also stays connected to Blaze. When a player joins the server, a round ends, or potentially at other times, the server exchanges data with Blaze, and if Blaze does not respond quickly enough, the server tosses out all its players.

FAST, no -- none of our locations are experiencing any overall problems right now. Chicago is just the most popular location.
