Just as well tell my guys not to bother trying to get our started. Can't even get a full round without it kicking everyone. I know other popular servers are staying up longer... just curious how. Guess connected to a different Blaze connection?

I wouldn't go as far as saying our connection is different than anyone else, I also wouldn't say they are staying up longer.

Blaze has been having major issues over the past few days which have caused global drops in traffic. You can see drops on GT by searching for BF3:

http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/ ... .66:25200/
http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/ ... 173:47200/
http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/ ... 119:47200/
http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/ ... 181:47200/
http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/ ... 119:25520/

The bad thing about Blaze is that it's not just a single handshake. It requires an always on connection and as soon as that connection drops it kicks everyone. Considering Blaze is in London I'd say it is fairly common for a connection to give out somewhere as that is an extreme distance to cross. It also must travel through tons of ISP's/NSP's. If one of them has an issue there goes your server.

This combined with how easy it is to anger a BF3 server. BF3 servers like to drop/crash is an IP is removed from the network adapter, certain files are touched, to many rcon commands are issued, DDoS attack and general game bugs...etc

There are a lot of reasons for a server to drop and unfortunately it doesn't seem like they want to take on the task of applying a permit fix.

I didn't say NFO in general was different cause I have other Favorite servers that are hosted by you all, but they don't seem to drop near as often. Could just our luck, or lack thereof lol...

That would go hand in hand with what I mentioned later my post with other things causing server drops.

Either way, it's a bad situation which we'll most likely need to live with :/

With these Blaze problems, I have not seen specific servers behaving better than others. But, statistically, one would expect for some to randomly have fewer drops, because most of these problems have been the result of random packet loss within Blaze. Similarly, if I flipped a coin 5 times in a row, 100 different times, the odds are good that at least one of those sets would be all heads (95.82%, actually).

Would those same servers experience fewer drops in the future? If they are configured with very high ticket counts, that may give them a better chance, because most big drops happen at the ends of rounds. Apart from that, no; with independently random events, future performance is not influenced by past performance.

Some of the events on Monday and Tuesday also affected all servers and dropped player usage, across the board, to 0.

EA made a post about the Blaze attacks here:

http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/fo ... 260590393/

It's not very specific, but it's something official, anyway.

Man.. I don't know what to do, still seems ours dumps, blazes, sh***s, vomits, whatever were calling it now. I have several favorite servers and they don't seem to do it near the rate of our server... even with the DDoS attacks against EA.

jaythegreat1, you also probably play on your own servers more than others, so it's more obvious to you when players get booted :).

If you need us to investigate a specific problem with your server, you can contact us and we can look at the logs. Nearly all problems right now are due to the Blaze issues, though.

Jay, are you running dedi/vps or a shared server ?

Not sure if this is in fact true, and perhaps some stats would help with this argument, but I believe the biggest damage is happening to shared servers. Dedicated/vps servers are certainly impacted by this Blaze outage, but I'm thinking to a slightly lesser extent.

Servers on our shared system are not being affected more or less often by the issues caused by the attacks on Blaze. The problems are global, random, and indiscriminate.

Server ran pretty good after re-installing, but had 2 blaze-dumps late last night, and 2 in the past hour.... can definitely see a bunch of server owners say screw it if EA doesn't do something about it.

Yesterday servers as a whole were pretty stable. Today we've seen one big drop (where 2/3 of servers dropped all players) and some smaller drops. The attacks on Blaze continue, I'm sure.

Early in the week, I offered to EA/DICE my assistance in helping them to analyze and determine how best to block the attacks, since DDoS attacks are something I have a good deal of experience with and this is a serious issue for our customers (it is very likely that I've seen their attack before and already know how best to deal with it). They have not taken me up on this.

If they had any sense (which they've proven not to) they should take all the help they can get.
