NFO Procon hosting

Post by chemist »

I know that it has been mentioned in this forum before about the possibility of NFO hosting Procon layer servers, and I'm just checking to see if that is something still being considered. I currently pay to have another provider host a procon layer, and their service is terrible.

Is this something still in consideration, or has it been permanently side-lined?

John has allowed me to offer hosting until he decides to hosting it.

http://aaquacks.com/forum/index.php/sto ... 9-hosting/

We set you up and give you full ftp access, so you can add your plugins.
We give you everything you need to run things yourself.
So that you really don't need support once it's up and running.
Procon is setup with no restriction and it auto updates itself.

Not saying there is no support. I can help when I am available.
We all works days, so always around in the evenings.

We have 2 people renting right now with 4 games servers hosted.

Intention is to keep it simple so you have all the tools needed to run things yourself.
Any support needed for plugins would be available from the plugin developer at phogue.net.

I can't wait for NFO Procon hosting...

I'm using Primary Target at the moment and when the service is down and a ticket is sent in, it isn't even answered within 24 hours a lot of the times! :x I've been without Procon running for almost the whole day now!

What sucks too is if you were to move to a new host, you can't copy your settings over until you get access to your old setup.

Wow! What a piece of junk Primary Target is! Still no frakking reply! What's the lowest I can get a VDS here? I think I'll just host all my Procon Layers on one.

$30 for a 1 core. Kind of pricey for just Procon.

Finally dumped Primary Target! They had it coming. I went with a 2 core VDS package from NFO here! :) I can certainly find multiple uses for this...

I ended up just building a VM on an under utilized server at my home and run my layers from it for free. I have static IP's from my ISP so I guess it all works out.

Bummer that there's no way to export all of the plugin settings / server configurations. I've moved my procon host so many times... getting tired of reconfiguring every server ever move.

Have I told NFO how much I appreciate them and their professionalism? I really hope that each person on the NFO staff personally get a lot out of this business.

Edit: ah i see you got a vps here.

1 core should even do it for you. We had a procon box here for a while and never had issues.

cheers
