Thank you for the suggestions. The main thing giving me pause about adding more autoinstallers right now is that Minecraft is in fast-development/fast-release mode as they ramp up for the full release. Any plugins will potentially quickly be invalidated and need to be disabled and later updated/fixed, which can be quite a bit of work. But, I do plan to add more when I have the chance.

There's also an auto-updater plugin that I was looking to potentially add.

Even though you update yours, we will still need to update all of those for other customers.

Only issue with the auto updater is that they updated plugins are downloaded to a temp folder, and you still have to shut the server down and copy them over, and then restart it all.

But it is rather nice. Just wish those creating the plugins would get onboard with the updater. Many aren't recognized by the updater because they are not setup correctly for use to update.

Well the auto updater that John is thinking of would be something he makes from scratch. It would involve checking a plugin page,RSS feed or something similar and automatically update the plugin.

In theory we wouldn't need anything from the plugins authors.

Another way he might do it, is make it so all we need to do is upload the plugin files to our servers and the system will do the rest of process.

kraze, I was thinking of an an existing auto-updater plugin as Pain was suggesting.

MAJ Pain, with plugins in your "plugins/update" folder, you should be able to switch to them with the "/reload" command. At least, theoretically. I'm surprised the plugin doesn't do this for you. http://wiki.bukkit.org/Installing_Plugi ... ng_Plugins

Interesting.

I use craftbukkituptodate plugin.
With the game server running, it won't allow copy over the current files so we have to shut it down to do this.

Not sure how reload accomplishes this.
