I've not really used Minecraft before (especially mods) however check that the zip files have the correct permissions. I'm assuming you are running on linux.

I'm not very experienced with Tekkit, but I know that quite a few customers run it here. Are you certain that these .zip files are uncorrupted? Make sure that your FTP client is uploading them in binary mode, and try downloading one back to your personal machine after you upload it, then attempting to open it.

I had the same thing happen as the op and after reading this tried uploading the files with Windows Explorer(was using WinSCP) and it worked.

Hope this saves someone else the hours I've spend the last two day trying to get Tekkit to work.

When uploading the files for tekkit, I've had the best luck with Filezilla

Filezilla and WinSCP use the same engine, and either should work (I use WinSCP, myself). If using Filezilla, make sure to reduce the number for simultaneous transfers: http://www.nfoservers.com/forums/viewto ... =24&t=5364

I find that odd. Something must be messed with by WinSCP before it initiates a transfer as it mangles the EOL characters. After about 2 hours of searching I found that it is known to cause this. (Albeit, a poorly coded plugin in the Tekkit pack is what expects the specific line endings)

What to do with line endings is an open question for FTP software. When uploading in ASCII mode, some FTP servers adjust the newlines to match the OS, while others don't. FTP clients can choose to either use ASCII mode and potentially see an unexpected behavior, or use binary mode and just preserve everything as-is. Meanwhile, applications on the other end may or may not require that the line endings match a particular style. Overall, it's just a mess, with no clear best answer for what to do from an FTP client or server standpoint. The only thing that is clear is that modern applications should be coded to handle both "Windows" (\r\n) and "*nix" (\n) line breaks.

WinSCP allows you to choose how it transfers each file type. It's under the Preferences->Preferences->Transfer->Transfer mode section of its configuration. WinSCP's default for whatever filetype is involved here is likely different than the default in the Filezilla version you tried.

Ah yes that would indeed make sense seeing as WinSCP would likely be sending it in ASCII mode whereas I would almost guarantee Filezilla isn't.
