Alternative Console?
Is there any way to use an alternative console from my computer to control my Minecraft server? I searched but I didn't really find much information.
If not is it something that could be considered?

Re: Alternative Console?
We provide console access through the "Server control" page in our control panel. Beyond this, the game has a built-in rcon system that I've heard of people trying to get working, although I haven't explored that yet myself. I'm sure that there are also plugins that allow remote access.

http://mcmyadmin.com/ is a very easy to use Console Plugin. It can also by used via iphone. Personally, I consider it an essential in Minecraft Server Management!

Re: Alternative Console?
Are the tech support guys able to install mcmyadmin for us?. Also are you able to install the overviewer plugin as opposed to dynmap?

Re: Alternative Console?
We do not support mcmyadmin on the server side here. We have our own console tool and other tools available through our control panel that provide similar functionality.
If you are running this on an unmanaged VDS or unmanaged dedicated server, you can install this or another 3rd-party utility if you wish.

Re: Alternative Console?
I would LOVE to know how to install this on my server, the built in permissions are really nice!
Re: Alternative Console?
You would need an unmanaged VDS to make use of it. It's pretty straight forward to install it though.

Re: Alternative Console?
The issue I had was after putting it into the NFO directory, I couldn't start it.hiimcody1 wrote:They have a windows installer available from their site. Give it a try: http://mcmyadmin.com/Downloads/MCMA2_Installer.exescorp_poison wrote:Windows 7hiimcody1 wrote:What's your OS?
Click on the exe file simply made it want to download to my computer.
Do you know how to make it work with an existing server rather than it trying to make a new one?
Re: Alternative Console?
You have an unmanaged VDS you're trying to set it up on, right?
Re: Alternative Console?
You can't be running Windows 7 on an unmanaged VDS. Did you mean that it's Windows 2008 R2, or are you saying that you were trying to install it on your home machine?
This utility would need to be run on the VDS itself.
